Mae Fah Luang Foundation showcases nature-based solutions at SX2026

As global crises mount, how can people and businesses move forward? Mae Fah Luang Foundation showcases nature-based solutions at SX2026

The Mae Fah Luang Foundation under Royal Patronage will showcase how people, nature and the economy can adapt and thrive together at Sustainability Expo (SX) 2026, as erratic weather, floods, droughts and wildfires compound the challenges of a rapidly changing business environment.

The foundation’s “Nature-based Solutions in Action” booth will feature an exhibition drawing on practical experience from the Doi Tung Development Project, community forests across Thailand and partnerships with businesses. Alongside the exhibition, visitors can join hands-on activities designed to turn learning into action.

Under the theme “Resilience in Action”, the exhibition explores nature’s role in addressing these challenges. It will run from 6–15 November 2026, from 10am to 8pm, in the SEP Inspiration – PROLOGUE zone on Level G of the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC).

Visitors will be taken through nearly four decades of development at Doi Tung, guided by the Princess Mother’s vision of nurturing forests and people together. The exhibition traces the area’s transformation from degraded land to a landscape where forest cover has more than tripled and plant species new to science have been discovered.

It will also introduce technology that “listens to the forest” to monitor wildlife, before turning to community forests and the foundation’s delivery of 43,123 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent in carbon credits in 2025. The Royal Forest Department described this as Thailand’s largest delivery of carbon credits from forest conservation and restoration projects at the time.

Case studies from leading businesses will examine how nature can be integrated into corporate strategy, with examples spanning upstream watersheds and industrial estates. The exhibition concludes with nature-based solutions that individuals, families and business leaders can apply in their daily lives and work.

A rotating programme of activities will offer opportunities to learn, take part and have fun every day. “Discovering Nature’s Secrets” encourages visitors to explore animal tracks, leaves and familiar scents to discover how living things are connected. The board game “Sustainaville” puts participants in the role of community developers, challenging them to plan and build communities that are prepared for disasters.

“Doi Tung’s Biodiversity Cards” introduces the area’s biodiversity through illustrations by local children and young people, inviting participants to explore the connections between different forms of life. Meanwhile, “Sustainability in Actions” draws attention to the impact of everyday choices, from resource use to daily habits, and how these can contribute to sustainability.

The foundation invites visitors to discover how adaptation can begin with their own actions at its booth in the SEP Inspiration – PROLOGUE zone on Level G of QSNCC, from 6–15 November 2026, 10am–8pm. For more information, visit www.facebook.com/MaeFahLuangFoundation.
