Visit the Thai Women's Vocational Training Event
Minister of Social Development and Human Security welcomes the Spouses of Ambassadors on the Visit to the Central Women's and Family Development Learning Center
On February 24, 2025, Mr. Varawut Silpa-archa, Minister of Social Development and Human Security, along with Dr. Suwanna Silpa-archa, welcomed Mrs. Tala Dionisi, the spouse of His Excellency Paolo Dionisi, Ambassador of Italy to the Kingdom of Thailand, and the delegation comprising members of the Association of Spouses of Officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (ASOMFA) and the Spouses of Heads of Missions (SHOM) of foreign Embassies in Thailand, on a visit to the Central Women's and Family Development Learning Center in Nonthaburi.
Mr. Varawut stated that the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security has a key mission to empower women through the promotion and development of their potential, as well as to promote gender equality to foster sustainable national development. This aligns with the important missions related to creating jobs and income, improving the quality of life for vulnerable groups, including women facing economic and social issues such as poverty, low income, lack of education, violence, and single mothers.
The learning center aims to support and enhance the quality of life for women and families facing economic and social challenges by providing social welfare services, assistance, and protection. It also aims to promote and develop careers by offering various vocational training courses that align with current market demands.
Mr. Varawut further shared that the Ministry welcomed Mrs. Tala Dionisi and the Ambassadors’ spouses and guided them through various vocational training courses and services on offered at the Center. These included demonstrations of hairdressing, spa services, and Thai massage, provided by alumni and current trainees who had completed 150 hours of Thai massage training and 60 hours of foot massage training. Both courses are accredited by the Department of Health Services Support under the Ministry of Public Health, and graduates receive certificates in both Thai and English to apply for registration as service providers in health establishments legally.
The Ambassadors’ spouses also had the chance to try their hand at preparing three famous Thai dishes: Pad Thai, Tom Kha Gai, and Sticky Rice with Mango, all based on recipes from the Thai Cuisine Academy, led by Chef Chumpol Jangprai. They also explored products from vocational groups, showcasing examples of individuals and products that have succeeded through training at the center.
“Today, the Central Women's and Family Development Learning Center in Nonthaburi, is honored by the visit of the spouses of foreign Ambassadors and spouses of former Ambassadors from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The activities today aim to let the world know that the mission of the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security is not only about providing safety nets for vulnerable groups, as there are still some who slip through the nets, such as single mothers or those facing life challenges. The Ministry offers training in areas such as Thai massage, hairdressing, cooking, and various craftsmanship. We are grateful to the members of ASOMFA and SHOM for accepting our invitation. From now on, the role of the Ministry will gain more international recognition, which is the main objective of today’s event. We hope the participants had an enjoyable experience, see the importance of the Ministry's work, and have the opportunity to try cooking, Thai massage, and hairdressing, allowing them to return with new experiences to share. We also hope the Ministry will have the honor of welcoming international guests again in the future.”
Mr. Varawut stated.
