Packaging specialist ALPLA opens new plant in Thailand Chachoengsao site includes manufacturing, product development, and design center

Hard, 11 February 2025 – ALPLA expands in the Asia-Pacific growth region and opens a second location in Thailand. The modern plant in Chachoengsao near Bangkok combines all production technologies, technical centers and the one-stop-shop for design STUDIOa on 24,000 square meters. The globally active packaging and recycling specialist is thus increasing capacities, expanding its portfolio and offering safe, affordable and sustainable system solutions made of plastic to numerous industries and markets.

ALPLA is increasing its presence in Southeast Asia. After a year of construction, the international packaging and recycling specialist has just opened a modern plant in Thailand. In addition to production and administration, the 24,000-square-meter new building in Chachoengsao near Bangkok includes a technical center for product development and the first STUDIOa in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region for the design
of new packaging solutions with customers. With the second location in Thailand, ALPLA is multiplying its production capacity in the country. Chachoengsao replaces Prachinburi as headquarters and expands the portfolio with the two technologies injection molding (IM) and single-stage injection stretch blow moulding (ISBM).

"The commitment in Thailand was the start of our activities in Southeast Asia more than 20 years ago and is still central to our growth today. The flagship plant in Chachoengsao covers all the needs of our customers and opens up new opportunities on the market," emphasises ALPLA CEO Philipp Lehner. At the
opening on February 11, 2025, including Austria's Ambassador Wilhelm Donko and Michael Friedl from the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, Mr.PongPol Yodmuangcharoen (Secretary to the Miniser of Industry).

Capacity increase and portfolio expansion ALPLA manufactures high-quality plastic bottles, preforms, matching closures and injection-moulded parts in Chachoengsao using all core technologies. One focus is
on the two newly introduced technologies of single-stage injection stretch blow moulding (ISBM) and injection moulding (IM). "The all-in-one concept strengthens our leading role as a system provider for safe, affordable and sustainable plastic packaging from a single source. Chachoengsao combines technological diversity,
the highest quality and customer service under one roof. In this way, we want to expand our market share and open up new segments,” says Roland Wallner, ALPLA Managing Director Region Asia Pacific (APAC).

Since the beginning of 2025, all production lines have been producing in series. More than 190 skilled workers are employed in Chachoengsao. The new location in the Bangkok metropolitan region scores with customer proximity and optimal connections. At its first plant in Prachinburi, ALPLA will in future specialise fully in extrusion blow moulding (EBM).

Growth market Thailand In 2022, ALPLA bundled its business in Southeast Asia and China to form the new Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. In the same year, the company entered recycling as a joint venture partner of the Thai company PTT Global Chemical. The joint state-of-the-art recycling plant ENVICCO in Rayong Province supplies 30,000 tonnes of food-grade PET recycled material (rPET) and 15,000 tonnes of HDPE recycled material (rHDPE) annually.

"We are also growing in Thailand together with our customers. With two high-performance production plants and the recycling plant, we are securing the long-term supply of sustainable packaging solutions and strengthening the nationwide circular economy," explains Daniel Qiu, ALPLA General Manager Thailand. ALPLA now also offers added value for better products in the STUDIOa in addition to the Technical Center. The innovative one-stop-shop for product design involves customers right from the development phase and creates more sustainable packaging thanks to lightweighting and design for recycling.
