"CU Book Center Hosts an engaging discussion about Portugal and Portugal book : 'Portugal, The Reasons for my affection'
On January 28th, Mr. Kriangsak Honsawek, Managing Director of the Chulalongkorn University Book Center, and his esteemed team graciously welcomed Mr. Tiago Monteiro, the Deputy Head of Mission from the Portuguese Embassy. This distinguished event featured a seminar titled “Portugal… the Reasons for My Affection,” where Mr. Monteiro participated as an honored panelist, sharing the stage with esteemed colleagues: Dr. Pralom Bunrasamee from the Portuguese Language Department at the Faculty of Arts , Chulalongkorn University , Ms. Gassanee Thaisonthi, a notable traveler, columnist and author of the celebrated book “Portugal… the Reasons for My Affection,” and Ms. Pariyapa Amornwanichsarn, a policy Analyst, the Ministry of Culture.
The seminar underscored Portugal’s enduring relationship with Thailand. Next year, we will celebrate an impressive 515 years of diplomatic ties—a testament to our close and cordial friendship. Mr. Tiago Monteiro has come to represent Portugal with grace and dignity. Although newly appointed, his profound affection for Thailand is evident. His remarkable commitment to mastering the Thai language within just seven months of his posting speaks volumes about his dedication and passion, earning him admiration from all attendees.
Mr. Monteiro's presence and eloquence added a layer of warmth and sincerity to the event, showcasing the genuine bond between our nations. Furthermore, he extends a heartfelt invitation to the Thai people to explore the enchanting landscapes of Portugal. He encourages them to delve into a history steeped in wonder and embrace the nation’s celebrated 3Fs: Football, Fatima, and Fado - each a splendid embodiment of our cordial diplomatic ties.
